In the first part, model experiments were presented on the molecular structure and function of biomembranes and on different forms of membrane transport. The self-organizing properties of lipids and proteins as well as their interaction with each other were discussed. Some possibilities to make these processes practically representable and experienceable in schools, student laboratories and in research were suggested and explained. The second part focused on modern research and its communication. Using the example of a current scientific publication on the investigation of exocytosis models from the Göttingen Collaborative Research Center 803, it was shown under which aspects and in which ways access to scientific publications could be facilitated for students. The literature adaptation presented here was developed in the department of chemistry didactics.
