The physics camps at XLAB bring students to Göttingen, as Niklas Grün has seen many times. Through his student council activities at the university, such as the O-Phase, the Particle World network, and DESY, he meets physics students whom he got to know as school students and participants in XLAB camps and whom he specifically encouraged to study in Göttingen. “You can't go wrong with physics. You cover everything from quarks to galaxies and learn the basics of all natural sciences. Studying physics is a worthwhile investment for people who like to think logically and have perseverance. With a bachelor's degree in physics, everything is open to you,” Niklas is convinced, and he convinces others of this too.
He himself came to the XLAB camps as a tutor through the student council and has already shown younger fellow students the way. He finds the camps more than worthwhile: “I would have loved to have had this when I was at school.” He shares experiences with the participants that he himself only gradually gained, such as how useful Python is, which textbooks are particularly easy to understand at the beginning, and that studying physics is above all the start of something new, not a continuation of advanced physics and mathematics courses at school.
