Participants learned how radioactivity can be used to observe nutrient uptake in plants at the University of Göttingen's radioisotope laboratory under the direction of Dr. Jan Muhr.
Fluorescence measurement technology is an excellent way to answer fundamental questions in cell and molecular biology. The participants gained initial experience in independently labeling DNA. Experiments with X-rays and energy-resolved detection of annihilation radiation provided a fundamental understanding of PET scans, which are used in cancer diagnostics, among other things.
