Science Camp supported by KWS

Students dive into the exciting world of innovative plant breeding.

Breeding resilient crops for sustainable agriculture is crucial for the survival of humans and livestock. Genetic engineering methods can significantly accelerate breeding in order to quickly achieve adaptation to climate change. Young people from MINT-EC schools across Germany came to Göttingen to learn about breeding goals and modern methods of gene transfer, protoplast fusion and the analysis of transgenic plants.

KWS SAAT SE & Co. KGaA, as an industry partner, complemented the academic perspective with current research and development approaches and career opportunities within the company. Its project funding was used in particular to finance accommodation and meals for the participants. Based in Einbeck, KWS has developed over decades into an innovative and international seed specialist with a broad crop portfolio from breeding and production to the distribution of high-quality varieties.
